01 / Definition
What an Offshore Development Company in India Actually Does
Search offshore web development india and you get five firms with the same brochure. Strip that language out and the work is three things.
Offshore development in india is engineers on your board in a different timezone, a contract that assigns the code to you, and someone accountable when a deadline slips. Everything else is packaging.
The people
Named engineers you interview, not a pool. Ask who specifically, and how many other clients they carry.
The paperwork
MSA, SOW, IP assignment on payment, NDA before code access, and a W-8BEN-E so your finance team can pay without withholding.
The overlap
Hours stated in your timezone, in writing. Four with New York, two with San Francisco, seven with London.
02 / Models
How Offshore Development Companies in India Are Structured
Four models get sold under the same words, and the difference decides whether your deadline is real. We are the second one, and we will tell you plainly when the third would serve you better.
If you are weighing the best offshore development company in india against a captive centre, headcount decides it, not sales conversations. Below fifty people a centre costs more to run than it saves.
03 / Scope
Offshore Development Services in India, and What We Do Not Offer
Every ranking competitor on this search covers both columns below. That is a real advantage when you need breadth, and a real disadvantage when you need someone who has spent nine years in one stack.
We offer
React frontends, new builds and rescues
Node APIs, queues and database work
Fixed scope builds with milestone dates
Engineers on your board, monthly rolling
We do not
PHP, .NET, Java, Python or Salesforce
Design, QA teams or project managers for hire
Staffing twenty people at short notice
Setting up your captive offshore centre
"An eight dollar an hour developer is a deferred invoice. You pay the difference later, in rewrites, in review time, or in the six weeks it takes to find out."

Four situations where offshore work goes badly, and we would rather lose the enquiry than take one of them.
05 / Shortlisting
Choosing an Offshore Web Development Company in India
Four questions that sort any shortlist in an hour. Use them on us and on everyone else you are comparing.
-
01
Ask which stack they would refuse
A firm that refuses nothing has no specialism. The answer also tells you whether you are getting their A team or whoever is between projects.
-
02
Ask for the overlap in your own timezone
"We work flexible hours" is not an answer. Get a start and end time in ET or PT, in writing, before you sign.
-
03
Ask who owns the repository during the build
If the answer is anything other than you, from the first commit, that is the whole negotiation in one sentence.
-
04
Ask for a paid pilot, never a free trial
Free trials get staffed with whoever is spare. A paid two week pilot on a real ticket gets staffed with the person who will stay.
07 / Objections
The five objections, answered without spin
These come up on nearly every first call. None has a comfortable answer, so here they are with the uncomfortable one. Where our interest conflicts with yours, the answer says so.
08 / Timeline
From first call to merged code, week by week
Most of this timeline is your side, which surprises people. A vendor can move faster than your procurement and access processes can, and that is usually where the weeks go.
To a decision
5wks
Two of those weeks are paid work you keep either way. Anyone offering to start tomorrow has an idle bench.
Week 6 onward is monthly rolling after the first two months, with a fortnightly technical check in you are welcome to join.
09 / Vocabulary
Terms vendors use loosely, defined
Half the confusion in offshore procurement is vocabulary. These six words mean different things to different vendors, so pin them down in writing before you sign.
Dedicated
Should mean one client at a time. Often means assigned to you on paper while billed to two others. Ask how many accounts the person carries this month.
Team
Should mean named individuals. Often means access to a pool from which people are drawn and returned. Ask for names in the statement of work.
Staff augmentation
Engineers who work your board under your direction. You own priorities and the roadmap. If nobody internally does that, this model will fail.
Managed delivery
The vendor owns scope, architecture and the date. You review outcomes rather than tickets. Costs more and consumes less of your time.
Overlap
Hours where both sides are working, stated in your timezone. "Flexible hours" and "we are available as needed" are not overlap commitments.
Handover
Should mean a runbook, a recorded walkthrough, documented decisions and returned credentials. Often means a final call. Define it in the contract.
One more, because it costs real money: "fixed price" usually means fixed scope, and every change becomes a change request. Ask what the change request process costs before you sign, not after the first one arrives.
10 / Stack
What we build with, and where to read the detail
Four defaults, and the detail lives on the two pages that do the actual selling.
React 19
TypeScript strict, every interface
Next.js
When server rendering earns it
Node 22
Fastify for APIs, jobs and queues
Postgres
Prisma migrations, reviewed like code
If you want engineers on your own team, read hire ReactJS developers in India, which sets out the six vetting stages, the seniority guide and the replacement terms. If the work is API, queue and database heavy, hire Node JS developers in India covers how backend vetting differs and what it costs. Both engagements start the same way, with a two week paid pilot on a real ticket.
11 / FAQ
Questions we get asked
The questions that decide an offshore engagement, answered before you have to ask. If yours is missing, send it and we will add it here.
Where to go from here
Offshore is how we work, not what we build. What we build is React and Node, and the two pages that matter next are hire ReactJS developers in India for frontend engineers on your team, and hire Node JS developers in India for backend work. Both engagements are described end to end, with the vetting written out and the replacement terms stated. If you would rather see finished work first, the case studies carry real numbers, including the estimate we missed. Three articles go further than this page does: what an offshore team really costs, the eleven questions that sort vendors in one call, and the contract checklist.
